p-10 is primarily a response to the contemporary art situation in Singapore.

p-10 is interested in exploring some 'lacks' in the current situation. Firstly, the lack of critical interest, discussion and discourse among fellow art practitioners. Secondly, the lack of active interest in art among the general public despite the rising numbers of visitors/audience. Thirdly, the lack of a nurturing environment for artists, art practitioners and audiences.

p-10 seeks to address these issues by bringing the focus back to dialogue, the development of artistic practice and areas surrounding the practice of art. This is evident in p-10's programming which include talks by artists and curators, residency programmes, curated art exhibitions, workshops, education packs for students, publications of small print-run and exhibition merchandising.

p-10 believes that in order for the art scene in Singapore to continue to flourish and mature, we need to consider beyond the production and exhibition of artworks by artists. As such, p-10 sees its role as a 'total' arts incubator - one that nurtures and aid in the developmental of the artists, curators, art critics, art writers, arts administrator, arts educator and most importantly, the arts audience. Through this work, p-10 functions as a catalyst for a more vibrant and exciting art scene.
